GSV Book Club Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 7:00 p.m, via Zoom "The First Ladies" by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. This is a novel about the extraordinary partnership between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune—an unlikely friendship that changed the world.  With their shared beliefs in women’s rights and the power of education, Mary and Eleanor become fast friends confiding their secrets, hopes and dreams—and holding each other’s hands through tragedy and triumph.   Persons interested in joining us in this discussion are welcome to do so by contacting Frances Brock at franal.aka@verizon.net.

Engaging with your Government with Maryland State Delegate Anne Kaiser Wednesday, March 19th, 7:00 p.m. via Zoom Not everyone realizes how easy it is to communicate with their elected officials, whether in person, in our offices in Annapolis, or online. Citizen engagement is crucial to democracy. As your elected representatives, we are citizen legislators -- which means we have second jobs (or sometimes 3rd and 4th jobs) AND because we rely on the expertise of those we represent. Community members also have challenges interfacing with government, and we can help solve those problems and direct people to appropriate resources. Additionally, I will address the Maryland state budget and its impact on constituents.
