The GSV Book Club Meting will take place on December 14th at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. We will be discussing the book The Lincoln Highway, a novel by Amor Towles.

The story is set in the 1950's. An 18 year old boy, Emmett Watson, is driven home to Nebraska by the warden of the juvenile work farm where he has just served fifteen months for involuntary manslaughter. His mother and his father are deceased, and the bank has foreclosed on the family farm. Emmett's intention is to pick up his eight year old brother, Billy, and head to California, where they can start their lives anew. But, when the warden drives away, Emmett discovers that two friends from the work farm have hidden themselves in the warden's car. Spanning ten days, and told from multiple points of view, they hatch a different plan for Emmett's future that will take on a journey in the opposite direction -- to the city of New York. It brings home how people find ways to be happy, make connections, and make a difference to one another's lives.

GSV Members and Volunteers are welcome to join in the discussion of this book. Please contact Geri Cooperman (gcooperman@aol.com) if you are interested.
